Search Engine Optimization - SEO

How do I get on page one of Google for a specific keyword?

There’s no magical formula to ranking on the first page, but there are about 250+ key metrics that Google uses in their algorithm to decide who gets to be on top. Our job is to analyze the websites that currently rank in the top positions for the terms you are going after, develop a specific strategy based on those findings, and execute our plan to drive you to the top.

How long does it take to start seeing results with SEO?

There’s no set timetable for when you’ll start to see rankings improve. It depends on where you are when we start. New businesses can take anywhere from 4-12 months to see real traction that translates into dollars, while companies that already have rankings could see increased traffic within a month after starting. Difficulty of your targeted Keyword, the tenacity of your competition, and the budget you have to invest into this process will help us give you a closer answer to what you are asking once we have finished your analysis.

My rankings have dropped in recent months. What happened?

Rankings change all the time, but if you’ve seen a drop, there are many possible reasons.  It could be due to increased competition under specific search terms as your competition is doing more than you. Google could have penalized the poor linking from your last SEO company, or done to you by competitors who take advantage of the algorithmic loopholes. It could be a poor mobile user experience, in which Google has plainly stated is an important part of the algorithm. Without proper data analysis, we could go on for days but since you are probably already asleep by now, let us leave you with this. If you don’t work at SEO with the right team, you could end up hurting your site badly, and that’s an expensive fix.

I have lots of backlinks to my website but I’m not ranking well. Why is that?

I know you have heard this before but here it is again: Quality not Quantity. Any link that you acquired that does not satisfy Google’s algorithm was a waste of your time. A good linking campaign makes sure there is a balance of links that are great for your authority and some that are less than important than those but still pushing you forward. We like to think of it as Link Management more than Link Building.

I'm ranking well, so why am I not getting business from my site?

Two words for you: Conversion Rate. This could be due to complicated navigation on your site, outdated look and feel, poor placement of your call to actions, and a dozen other possibilities. If potential customers get to your site but don’t know what to do next, or don’t like the overall feeling they get, they’re likely to leave and head back to the search results page to find an alternative. That means you’re out!

How do I reach and attract a local audience to my website?

The local rankings work differently than the standard organic results. By setting up a Google My Business account and building a presence on local listings websites (e.g. Yelp, TripAdvisor, etc.), users will be presented with your location and contact information when they make a geographic-based search. If all of the information is correct and the same, you get rewarded by the search engines. Since there are hundreds of local listing sites, you’ll need some help to get that all line.

Website Design and Development

How much do you charge for a new website?

That really depends on what you want in a site. Some sites are very simple and straightforward while others are expansive and complicated. Rest assured, we’ll let you know everything in black and white before we get started.

How long would it take to finish my site?

Our web development projects are typically completed within 3-5 weeks. This assumes that all the requirements are provided immediately and that you are able to provide revisions and QA quickly.

Will you host my site for me?

The service covers the website build and the site’s launch as well as 20 days of support after launch.  So, at this time, name registry, hosting, and server costs are not included. However, we would be more than happy to suggest a few hosting providers that provide great products and quality customer support.

What technologies do you use to build your websites?

We can use a variety of different types of languages to build your site. Most of the time we use a WordPress Content Management  System (CMS), or theme, and are built with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and PHP. All of our themes also use Page Builders which allow our clients to easily build pages with unlimited layouts through a drag and drop user interface, without the need for coding knowledge. If you want something more complicated, or custom, we can do that too.

Why WordPress?

We like WordPress for a few reasons.

  1. It is the most flexible and easiest to use open-source content management system, with worldwide community support.
  2. It has themes with responsive web design and provides optimal user experience across devices so that users navigate the website with minimal re-sizing and scrolling.
  3. Its dashboards provide an easy interface to allow easy creation of responsive content; and, there are a variety of different plug-ins that make long, tedious tasks easier and quicker, like uploading products for e-commerce sites.

Why won't you launch my site on a Friday?

Development best practices discourage launching of sites on Fridays.  As most sites represent businesses that run on weekdays only, weekend launches may cause unforeseen errors that cannot be addressed in real-time as our staff and most clients do not work on weekends.

Where will you build my website?

We create your site on our own servers first and would only upload to your own website after the Final QA and revisions.

Can I get access to my site while in development?

We typically won’t provide you back-end access to the site until it’s ready to be uploaded to your server because our developers work with the site directly and we want to ensure that we would not encounter any issues in developing your site related to multiple access during development. However, we may give you a link to look at the progress of the site and give your feedback right away.

Do your Web Development packages come with SEO?

This is kind of a loaded question since SEO is multi-faceted. We build your site based on architecture that’s optimized for SEO so it can then go on to larger on-going SEO campaigns (if that’s what you want). But no, your site will not automatically show up on the first pages of the search engines just by building a new site.

Will my SEO be affected by building a new site?

If your site has been around a while, and it has some rankings, it’s typical for your site to take a dip in the rankings after the relaunch. This is because the search engines are trying to make sense of your site. However, how long this happens for, and how badly it dips, depends on a multitude of different factors.
